Very rare Zeiss Persian contract Kriegsmarine binoculars #205
These very rare Zeiss 8x30 binoculars were originally produced under contract for the Persian empire with the inscriptions in Farsi along with the Persian Imperial Pahlavi Crown. It seems that these were part of a very small batch that were never delivered to Persia and were redirected for use in the German army. They were subsequently marked with the wartime German insignia of the period as well as the Artillerie des...ignation Artl. They have a rim number of 1990810.These are in well preserved but used condition. With most of the original paint still on the cover plates, the inscriptions are very clear. The paint has a lot of edge rubbing and one edge has a small dent. The leather covering is very good. The thin Bakeleite covering to one one eye cup is missing but the other cup is good. One of the gas oculars slides up and down freely but the other is very tight because the splines have been slightly dented. The oculars focus freely. The lenses and prisms appear to be undamaged but they are very foggy. As the vision is still quite good even through the fog, I have no doubt that they will clean up very well to provide excellent viewing. The binoculars are fitted with an unusual button flap that has been stitched on around the hinge spindle. It looks to have been done during initial assembly. The flap has a press-stud on the end. They also have their original leather neck strap which is in good usable condition.
