Columbia's Radcliffe Publishing School has listed 1984 as #3 on its list of the 20th century's greatest books. The book comes in its original dust jacket, priced at $3.00, and is a Book-of-the-Month Club (BOMC) issue. ... BOMC issues are usually not very collectible as they rarely have the stated "First Edition" under the copyright. I usually only sell BOMC editions that have special early jackets or such a first edition statement that make it easy to assess their priority. This also comes with a facsimile of its BOMC insert, a review of the book by Henry Seidel Canby, and a copy of the original New Yorker review by Lionel Trilling.
Boards have little wear (please see pics.) Intact endpages are uninscribed. Rear endpage has a light (tape?) stain at the very edge. Very tight and square binding, very clean, bright and crisp text. 314 pages, measures approximately 8.25 x 5.5-inches. Dust jacket has a creaser on the front panel and is chipped where you see the acid-free backing paper showing through. It comes wrapped securely in its own ph-neutral mylar sleeve and ready to slip into your collection.
