First edition, first state, with all first edition, first issue points called for by Bienvenue and Schmidt; "The Reilly & Britton Co." on spine; "O" in Ozma present on 5th line, p. 11; p. 221 in color; publisher's advertisement facing half-title offers two titles: "Land of Oz, " & "John Dough and The Cherub"; colored plates throughout with color pictorial endpapers. There is a page tear at the bottom of page 55/56 about 2" in the middle/bottom of the page. Pages 220-222 have be...en taped in, making the fore-edge of these pages stick out slightly to have tattering and wear to the edge of the papers. There is an inscription on the inside page that says 'To Helen from Alex Merry Xmas 1907, and the owners name written on the "this book belongs to page'-- this page also has tears down the page near the binding. The colored plates are present. This book has been loved and well used over the years, so there are some page wrinkles and smudges throughout, but overall, displays nicely.
