The minor issue was the potentiometers were dirty and a little scratchy. I cleaned all the controls with deoxit and now they all work smoothly and quietly. The major issue was the tuning knob didn't move the needle. Turns out the large tuning pully coming out of the tuning capacitor was cracked and practically broke in two. I have a STA 90 parts receiver and I swapped out the pully, then I had to restring the tuner. This was no easy task but I got it perfect. I had to align the needle to the station frequencies and I got it dead on. This receiver is now in fabulous near mint condition. The front face plat is very nice with no marks, dings, scratches or worn lettering. The real walnut veneered is nearly perfect with just a few very minor signs of wear and age which are barely noticeable. All the light work and are nice and bright. I tested the AM, FM, both sets of speaker terminals, aux input and phono and they all work as designed. FM is exceptional, tunes great and sounds awesome. AM works fine but like most receiver I test isn't great, would say the AM is slightly above average. Has an excellent phono section, records play and sound perfect with no hum or distortion. Cleaned both sides of the face plate, removed the tuning dial and cleaned both sides, removed the bottom cover and cleaned the top of it. Dusted out the insides with an air compressor and cleaned the surfaces with Q tips and alcohol. Didn't test the tape inputs/outputs or the headphone jack but found no reason to suspect they wouldn't be working. This is truly a great receiver, third only to the STA 2000 and STA 235 in the 1978 Radio Shack catalog. I normally don't allow returns after 14 days from delivery but I am so confident in the condition of this receiver I am offering a 30 day no questions asked return period (including return shipping!). That's as good as getting a 30 day warranty absolutely free. I pack very well and just a couple of the over 1000 items I have sold were damaged during shipping but if your receiver arrives damaged simply return it for a full refund and I'll deal with the insurance claim.
