Lovely quality genuine 129 year old sterling silver example, (definitely not a modern re-production); decorated with embossed foliage and scrolls and is complete with its original hinged silver handle and attachment ring. Inside it has its original blue velvet-lined interior and there are no added personal engraved inscriptions or monograms. Comes with a genuine antique Charles Horner solid silver thimble.Measurements Measures approx. 1.95 inches (50mm) in length, (including silver handle) x 0.9 inches (22mm) in diameter. Date English antique 19th Century Victorian solid sterling silver, with a full set of English silver hallmarks for Chester 1890 (date letter "G"). The Charles Horner thimble has silver hallmarks for Chester 1911, (date letter "L"). Maker Silversmiths initials "CS FS" (Cornelius Sanders & Frank Shepherd - 1885-1908). Condition Good condition, with no splits or cracks to the silver, no solder repairs and no nasty knocks or dents. The hinged silver handle moves freely and the interior velvet lining is all intact. Lovely "bucket-shape" design and with no added personal engraved monograms. The silver Charles Horner is the perfect tight fit, has tiny age-related bruises, but definitely no wear holes.
