NEW UNIVERSAL SOLAR CALENDAR

Maclise created a new universal solar calendar which was published in 1962 by Heliczer's Dead Language Press, and later was advertised in the first issue of cc Vtre (Fluxus Newspaper). This later version of the calendar is similar, but more elaborate, with expanded text, all of which is written in Maclise's unmistakable calligraphy, emerging outward from five sunbursts. Though undated, it i...s dedicated to Hetty Maclise, and was produced around the time of his marriage to Hetty Maclise (née McGee) in a ceremony performed by Timothy Leary in Golden Gate park, sometime in 1967. Maclise is the primary author, but prominent credit is also given to Lionel Ziprin (schema) Don Snyder (pix), Paolo Lionne (layout) and George Maciunas (producer).Calendar has creases from being folded over twice, and shows minor dampstaining and age toning throughout. There are some very small pinholes at the four corners and two near the top and bottom edges of the center fold. There is also some extremely light tearing to the center of the calendar, and at the bottom edge near the center. Overall, a well-preserved copy of an extremely scarce and fragile piece of Maclise ephemera.
