First Thus "Dean Swift, a somewhat improbable witness, considered Sir Thomas More as 'the person of the greatest virtue that this kingdom hath ever produced'. Without going into comparatives, we need have no doubt about More's virtue, or the charm of his personality; while the tragic fate that befell him, caught in the trap of revolutionary circumstances and the conflicts of conscience consequent upon them, which are so brutally familiar to us today, recommends him to our sympathy. Whatever we may think of the issues - and they have been mostly presented to us biased in favour of More - it all makes a splendid, touching story"[from the Introduction]. Book is in New Condition.
Slipcase is in Near Fine Condition: light shelf wear. Copyright 2017
