1955 B&K Model 500 Mutual Conductance High Quality Tube Tester-Working NR Here for your consideration is a 1955 B&K Model 500 Mutual Conductance High Quality Tube Tester in Repaired and Working condition. This tester was B&K's first Tube Tester, and it sold for $109.95 in 1955. Hickok lost their patent rights to the Mutual Conductance Circuit in 1954, and B& K was one of the 1st to start making Mutual Conductance Testers after that. You will find this tester on page 29 ...of Alan Douglas's Tube Testers and Classic Electronics Test Gear. This tester reads directly in Micromhos.I believe this is the easiest to use Mutual Conductance Tube Tester ever made. Instead of using multiple expensive switches, B&K used extra sockets (Thirty 7pin, 9 pin, and Octal) to test hundreds of tubes after WWII. Note that there are no early 4, 5, 6 pin sockets, so this tester is not for early 30s and 40s radio.I took this tester to my Tech Friend Tom, and he replaced the 5 electrolytic capacitors and the fuse. From my qiuck testing it corolates nicely to my Hickok TV-7. You c an see in the picture me testing a good 5U4G and then a marginal 5U4G with the same findings I got on the TV-7. The tester is in good shape, but Tom and I do not clean 50+ year old vintage equipment, as most of my buyers would rather do that themselves, so I'll leave it up to you.In a quick review of the Tube Charts I see tubes like 5AU4, 5R4, 5T4, 5U4, 5V3, 5V4, 5Y3, 6C4, 6F6, 6L6, 6SK7, 6SL7, 6SN7, 6SQ7, 12AU7, 12AX7, 12SN7, 25L6, 35W4, 50C5, 1614, 1622, 5691, 5692, 5693, 5881, KT66, and hundreds more. I'm certain a web search will find you additional testing parameters.Don't miss this one. Good Luck, Radioorphanage These items all come from a SMOKE FREE, SMELL FREE Home. RADIOORPHANAGE EBAY INFORMATION: 1) 2019 is my 21th year selling on eBay. I have bought, sold, and collected 25+ to 100+ year old Vintage Electronics for over 40 years. As I trim my collection, I try to sell a variety of interesting, hard to find Radios, Amplifiers, Record Players, Vinyl, Stereo Receivers, Speakers, Telephones, Transistor Radios, Tube Hi Fi and Audio, Television, Amateur Radio and Communication Devices, Vacuum Tubes, Telegraphs, Gaming Equipment, Early Computers and Calculators. 2)Check out all my other auctions, and mark me as a Favorite Seller. September to May is my selling season. There is something here for any vintage electronics collector or nostalgia buff. All items are sold NO RESERVE. My current feedback is 99.6% with over 5000 feedbacks. I was the President of the New England Antique Radio Club and then the New England Vintage Electronics Club for the past six years. I stepped down at the end of 2018 to concentrate on finding new owners for the Vintage Electronics my son is not interested in. 3) I value you as a customer, and more importantly, a returning customer. All my auctions run No Reserve for 10 days- from Thursday to the following Sunday. I pack all the items on Sunday and Monday, and ship all items that are paid for on Monday, latest Tuesday. I reward your fast payment with excellent packing, and lightning fast shipping. 4) I have no interest in taking advantage of anyone, and I have no need to. If you understand what you are bidding on, and how Vintage Electronics work, you will be very happy. If you don’t understand how to put an antenna on an old tube radio, or how to connect speakers to a Vintage Amplifier, join a local Antique Radio or Vintage Electronics Club. If you don’t know where your closest club is, let me know, and I’ll tell you. If you don’t know how to hook up or use what you are bidding on, or know someone who does, please don’t bid. ASK QUESTIONS about anything you don’t understand. I want you to be happy.5) Shipping is expensive. You can pick your item up with NO SHIPPING costs at my home 50 miles north of Boston with advanced notice. The eBay concept of “free shipping” is one of the 3 biggest lies. We are the best packers on eBay, and pack YOUR item the way we’d like to receive it-if it was being sent to us. We take extra care in packaging, (Bubble wrap, foam pellets, proper boxes, etc.)(NOT the wadded up newspaper trick) There is a cost for doing this right. Our goal is to get it to you in good shape, and for you to not have to file those fruitless shipping claims. Let's face it, once it's broke, it's broke. We have lost a significant amount of money in packaging costs over the past 20 years, and will continue to do so to get it to you in one piece. 6) YOU & US: Note that the majority of what we sell is antique, vintage, and/or collectable electronics. For liability purposes, Radioorphanage / Bruce Phillips accept NO responsibility for how the buyer uses or misuse of the items. We see you as a valued customer, and want you to be happy. Bid with confidence, as we are in this for the long haul- not for a quick buck. If you are not happy, for any reason, let us know and we'll try to make it right. 7) Questions? Please ask!
