A rare Scottish 1897 Diamond Jubilee Queen Victoria pottery mug with a portrait of Prince Albert, the mug is 4" inches high & 4" inches in diameter decorated with a large portrait of the aged Queen with dates on ribbons, to the reverse is a large portrait of her late husband Prince Albert with dates on ribbons Married 1840 and Death 1861, the base carries a back stamp with a thistle Albert C P Co Ltd Glasgow. Queen Victoria lost her husband on the 14th December 1861, she never reco...vered from her loss she was in morning right up to her Diamond Jubilee. It is very rare to find a portrait of Prince Albert on any Jubilee commemorative, manufactures did not dare to upset the Queen in this way this manufacture did not seem to be worried I have only ever seen two designs of Jubilee pieces with the Princes portrait on this mug and a plate. This was a cheap pottery mug produced at the time so it will have some manufacturing faults and does a small chip to base no other damage like cracks or restoration.Please view all pictures and feel free to ask any questions you may have I do ship worldwide.
