Original Description:
For sale is a Handel lamp base having a floral mid section with three birds in flight and a Chinese pierced bottom. This particular base has an outstanding original green and brown patina as do the three sockets. This base was often used with Handel's "Birds in Flight" reverse painted shade. This base stands straight. Many bases of this particular model have acquired a lean over the years so be careful when you look at them and don't be afraid to ask if it stan...ds straight. If the base leans, the shade will not sit level when viewed from all directions.
This base comes with a Handel heat cap and Handel button finial. At some time, the lamp base was rewired with a brown plastic cord and an on/off switch was added to the cord. The base has three matching original Hubbell socket shells. However, the insides were replaced with modern pull chains switches.The base stands 22 3/4" high, and weighs in at 9.5 lbs. The bottom of the base is 7 inches in diameter. This model base of Handel base with the pierced bottom was always unsigned.
The greenish brown patina makes this base the nicest I have seen.Please ask any and all questions prior to purchase.
