Offering a partial ALS signed by M.C. Perry; notation in ink at the top of the page: “ Commodore Perry” (U.S. Navy).Transcription: “I was the commander of ___________ in India. Yours Truly M. C. Perry” Size of note: 5” x 7” glued onto a stiffer paper size: app 8” x 12”. Staining, old glue aberrations, folds and cuts to the originals letter. So, because of the ink notation “Commander” at the top of the page, I presume that this letter was written by Commander Matthew C. Perry and not by his son (by the same name) who only achieved the rank of Captain. This letter, though not dated would have to be before Perry died in 1858.
