this is an early King James Family Bible, this example was originally the property of a John Kaine, which was given to him as a gift by his Grandfather, ...there is an old booksellers ticket in the front which is a little difficult to read, but it looks like it might be from a seller in Boscastle,
the bible is bound in full reverse sheep leather titled in gilt to the spine, measuring10 inches by 8.5 inches approx.
included are the Old and New testaments, then a Concordance, and an added book of Psalms
CONDITION
the leather binding has general rubbing wear, with damage to the leather at the base of the spine, with lesser damage to head of spine, joint cracked to rear board, internally lacks front and rear endpapers opening onto the main title page, some occasional marks and browning, some of the browning marks are heavy and very noticeable, though even at its heaviest the text is still legible
two pages of the New Testament are very worn at edges with some loss of text (see pictures) also does appear to be lacking the final leaf of the rear Psalms, some very noticeable corner creases
THE BIBLE DOES SHOW SOME VERY OBVIOUS SIGNS OF WEAR AND AGE
BUT REMAINS A GOOD SERVICEABLE EXAMPLE OF A EIGHTEENTH CENTURY FAMILY BIBLE
