1811Selling here is an early edition of Maria Rundell's 'The New Family Receipt-Book...', published by John Murray et al, London, 1811. Published as a supplement to 'A new system of domestic cookery'. (Oxford, A.W. English cookery books, p. 137; also Halkett & Laing; BM).12mo, bound in near period purple cloth , spine with brown morocco label. Period plain endpapers.The book measures 10.5cm by 17cm.The contents are complete, meeting collation: xxxviii, [2], 434pp, including a table of contents and index. With a dedication to Charles Taylor, M.D. Secretary to the society, instituted at London, for the encouragement of arts, manufactures, and commerce, ... "towards which he has contributed many valuable receipts and which embraces many of the objects of that society".Please View My Other Items For SaleCondition: The binding is holding firmly and is in good condition, upper hinge cracked along two thirds, spine ends frayed, backstrip with split across center and sunned, general wear and rubbing as seen in pictures. Contents are holding firmly and are generally in good clean condition if a little toned, with some light scattered foxing, occasional light creases or mainly marginal finger marks.
