This original, first edition... book provides a wonderful collection of Southern oratory and essays by William H. Stewart, Lieutenant Colonel, 61st Virginia Infantry. The book provides a variety of Southern material including some wartime first-hand accounts. The book covers a varied of topics of Southern interest. The 61st Infantry Regiment was organized at Petersburg, Virginia, in October, 1862, using the 7th Battalion Virginia Infantry as its nucleus. It was assigned to General Mahone's and Weisiger's Brigade, Army of Northern Virginia.

THIS BOOK IS IN NEAR FINE - CONDITION
This first edition book is in nice overall condition, but has some rubbing and discoloration to the cover. The book comes protected in a clear, Mylar dust jacket (see photo #2). The book is bound in textured, green cloth covers with gold lettering on the spine and cover. The gold lettering is bright. The exterior is clean with no bumping or discernible edge wear. The interior is clean and the book doesn’t have a mark in it. It is free from any writing, smudging, foxing, stamps, pasteboards or other markings. This is not an ex-library book. The book has solid binding throughout; it has no looseness or lean and both hinges are fine. 238 pages. Overall a nice copy of this original, first edition, antique book by Lieutenant Colonel Stewart of the 61st Virginia Infantry.
