Antique 18 - Inch China Head Doll With Provenance And Unusual Side - Glancing Eyes

PLEASE EXAMINE ALL PHOTOS AS THEY ARE PART OF THE DESCRIPTION OF THIS DOLL. We found a note in this doll's head that said the following: "Gertrude Ethel Corroll Rude's doll head - bot about 1886." We have preserved the note and placed it in the waistband of the doll's slip for her new owner to marvel over! She is an 18-inch, possible a Hertwig, but maybe not, because she has those unusual side-glancing eyes, which were not normal in these types of do...lls, but appeared much later in the "googly-type" dolls. ANYWAY, she is a beauty, with rich color in her face: bright peachy cheeks, red Cupid's bow mouth, sky blue eyes, with the apricot line denoting the upper lid of the eye perfectly. Such a faraway look in those blue eyes! Her china head is not perfect, unfortunately, she has an old hairline that goes from her left sew-hole to her hair, but doesn't seem to extend into her hair that we can see, nor does it go all the way through. Also, where there is no loss of color on her face, she has some minor loss to her hair in the front and spots of rubbing in the back. ( see photos) She wears linen pantellettes and a sheer half slip under a pale peach gown that has a stiff under-crinoline. It has a insert at her bodice that is edged with lace that matches the peach material and this is decorated with tiny "pearls." Her long sleeves are puffed and full and go to a "princess point" and further decorated with lace edging. The gown falls from the waist in a bell to a wide flounce and is decorated with deep bronze- colored ribbon roses and more tiny "pearls" to complete the look of this marvelous dress.
