Up for sale is an early racing gearcase from a 1950 Mercury KG9. The seized powerhead is stamped 408085 on the intake side of the block. I have not inspected the gearcase internally, but can verify that the driveshaft turns the prop without any difficulty, and doesn’t feel loose or have gear lash issues. The housing has scratches, but these could be sanded out. The prop cone will have to be removed and the impeller replaced at minimum. There is some residual grease around the screw v...ent, and in other places on the housing, and it will need cleaning.The mounting studs are 3/8” in diameter, and measure ~4 5/8” o.c., while the driveshaft is 16 1/2” in length, from the housing to the top of the 11-tooth spline.
