FROM the 1900s, this is The Green Fairy Book, as edited by Andrew Lang. The second edition published by A.L. Burt Co., New York. Sized 8x5 inches, bound in green decorated cloth with a winged fairy or angel on the front board. With 365 pages. In solid condition save for this caveat--the last two pages have chips out of the corners, probably the victim of some little fingers grabbing the book by the page ends. Don't try that at home. The first edition was in 1892. We should add that we ...have a plethora of the Andrew Lang fairy books on eBay, many of which are first editions. Check our other listings.
In his Preface to this volume, Lang expressed the view that it would be "probably the last" of the collection. Their continuing popularity, however, demanded subsequent collections. In The Green Fairy Book, the third in the series, Lang has assembled stories from Spanish and Chinese traditions.
