This is a beautiful example of an U.S. Militia Staff Officer Sword which was manufactured by the famous Swordmaker Company "AMES". It is mounted with a straight blade that measures 31 1/8 inches in length which wears lovely etching on either side and has survived in nice condition with just some minor staining. The wonderful bone grip also features lovely carved motifs and remains healthy in its condition with a beautiful aged mellowing now developed. The brass cross guard face boasts ...a star centered on either side and remains nice and tight with traces of the original gold wash still peeking through. The pommel is in the image of a Roman helmet, also with traces of the original gold wash still present and continues to wear the double chain guard still tightly in place. The fabulously detailed brass scabbard continues to wear much of its original gold wash as well and although has an old repair on the backside, remains strong and sturdy and in very good serviceable condition.
