This Modern Library book, #85.1 in the series contains twonovels: Sapho by Alphonse Daudet and Manon Lescaut by Antoine Farncois Prevost. The pair fly to Paris, and the novel is occupied with the description of Manon's faithlessness. Thestory...is chiefly remarkable for the perfect simplicity and absolutelifelikeness of the character-drawing." 319 pages pages plus a list ofother titles available at the time.
The book has a Toledano 6 cover, D or Kentendpapers, and a d jacket. The copyright page is dateless. The jacket back refers to 150 books. The list on the inverse includes Dostoyevsky andexcludes Chaucer, dating it to spring 1929. The list at the end of the book dates to spring 1931.
The used book is in about very goodcondition. It has no markings, writingor underling, and is free of offensive odors. The binding is strongand the top stain is smooth. The unclippeddust jacket ($.95) is largely complete except for small chips along the edges, the largest being about a ¼” triangle at the bottom of the spine. Flap folds are well worn. See photos.
