VINTAGE 1930s GMC GENERAL MOTORS RADIATOR CAP/HOOD ORNAMENT

Here is a vintage General Motors (GMC) radiator cap/hood ornament from the 1930s. Note the part number in the last photo. This ornament is listed in both Lynn Huntsburger's "U.S. Hood Ornaments and More" as well as William C. Williams' "Motoring Mascots of the World, " page 42. Apparently this design appeared in 1930 and was used for a handful of years during that decade. Both books lists the piece as chrome-plated brass but as can be seen from the pictures the chrome finish is a bit r...ough overall. However, there is no structural damage and the piece still has quite a bit of appeal. 6-3/4" long. Diameter appears to be 3-1/2" but I can't say exactly because I do not have a caliper.
