The body is made of very fine and white clay, asrevealed by the well cut foot rim. Thebeautiful robin’s egg (爐鈞釉) glaze has many white or light colored minute bubbles scattering in alight blue matrix, symbolizing the blue sky, in sharp contrast against thewhite blossoms. This glaze existed primarilyduring Jiaqing (1796 – 1820 AD) and Daoguang (1821 – 1850 AD) periods. The meticulouslycarved branches of white blossoming plum, a motif popular during first half ofQ...ing Dynasty, expressing the wish that although the days are coldest, Spring iscoming soon寒梅迎春. The carving work was attributable to Wang BinRong王柄榮, one of the bestporcelain carving artists during Daoguang period. 109 grams.
