Intricately Designed Vintage Antique Possibly Art Nouveau Bronze, or Brass Snake Candlestick.
It measures 81/4" tall and 5 inches across the base. It is in Excellent Condition with a wonderful Aged Patina. There appear to be no markings. I saw an identical one at an antique show about 10 to 12 years ago with a $400 price tag. These are rare. While today snake themed objects are common, when this was made (late 1800's/ early 1900"s) a sna...ke themed display item such as this would have been considered very questionable, grotesque, even wrong to produce or own, as snakes used to associated with evil and superstition. Therefore few snake / serpent related pieces were made and even fewer remain today.
