Delightful Pair Of Early Victorian Hallmarked Solid Sterling Silver Lid & Crystal Cut Glass Ink Wells Made By Thomas Diller
Description - Lovely Mid 19th century inkwells of square form thick crystal cut glass well with sunburd decoration to the base and the top corners a slightly canted, there are glass stoppers and solid silver screw on lids with nice engraved scroll foliate decoration.
Each lid is fully hallmarked with the Leopard's head for Londo...n assay, lion passant indicating 925 grade solid sterling silver, the Queen's head, date letter "P" for the year 1850 and the maker's mark "T D" which is Thomas Diller.
Condition - Both inkwells are in good order with just a few tiny nicks around edge as to be expected due to age but only visible on close inspection, one of the lids has a light knock and some loss of definition to the engraving (please inspect end photographs). The glass stoppers fit perfectly, plus both the lids screw on and off fine.
Dimensions & Weight - 3.7cm x 3.7cm square x 4cm in height (to the top of the lids).
The total combined gross weight is 137 grams including silver lids which both weigh 16.4 grams.
