RARE ANTIQUE WILLIAM IV IRISH? SILVER ORNAMENTAL LID HANDLE HAND LIZARD McCARTHY SIGIL
In excellent original condition. Solid silver, but only marked with the William IV kings head duty mark. Originally would have fitted to the lid of a large lid, of probably an entree dish. Cast in the form of a lizard being gripped by a hand. Research leads me to believe that this device is associated with the McCarthy family from Ireland. 7cm tall, weight 107 grams. Rare and unusual piece of... silver.
