Here is the history... My dad owned one amp and the tuner in the 60's (the one with all the knobs). I took over in the mid 70's. I replaced the speaker switch and several of the knobs (when I could still get parts from Fisher). At some point an impedance matching transformer blew, and I replaced it with similar spec, but larger size (see pic). Th...is amp was working when I put it in the attic... 27 years ago. This amp has four ORIGINAL FISHER 7868 tubes. Please note - the pic shows two Fisher and two International tubes, bu then I found more Fisher tubes in my stash, so I filled it up with the Fisher tubes.
The second amp (the one without the knobs) - I bought this for parts from a shop in Cambridge MA in the 90's... was going to part it out and use an impedance transformer on the first amp. But it _almost_ works... so I couldn't chop it up. It would work for a while and then one channel will cut out. My recollection is that pulling one of the preamp tubes and plugging it back in restored sound, but it would cut out again. Tried swapping tubes, no joy. My guess is a cap somewhere. This one I think I replaced the volume control and I don't know what else, but again it almost worked... A matched set of RCA 7868s in this one...
Overall in pretty good shape. Note that they both even have the little green power lamp jewel ! I was able to get one of those from Fisher in the mid-70's.
Many / most of the 12ax7a tubes are original Fisher. Some are Realistic. Some are 'International'.
The tuner - that worked fine last time I tried it - even the little tuning indicator tube.
You'll see a pic of the extra knobs and brass trim that I will also send along.
AFAIK the tubes are all good - they were the last time I tested them... in the 90's... I ALMOST bought a tube tester at a garage sale, but decided I'd rather stay married :) .
Extra tubes - I have three International brand 7868s, four 12ax7a, 1 6sn7, one 25hx5, one 6ax4gt/b, ine c6x8, one 65n7gtb, and some others. Status unknown... they're in a cigar box. My dad would not have kept them if they weren't still serviceable.
Re shipping - I have no idea what this will cost to ship. I can do three boxes, or I can do one. I will take the whole lot to the local ship-a-rama I will let you know what it'll cost to ship. But I'll take a guess and say $75 - $100.... this stuff is heavy, as you well know :) . I added $75 to the listing for shipping. I hope that covers it...
I had planned for the last 30 years to get these running again... so I'm hoping that these can go to someone that will tinker and finish restoring them, and will enjoy them.
THANKS FOR LOOKING!!
Of course I have to state 'as-is'. I have not powered these up in decades.
