Now is your chance to own a not often seen set of toy cardboard houses that date to themiddle of the 1930's. Manufactured in Baltimore, Maryland by the Dill brothers. Theircompany was named Dilco Toys and these charming houses were all hand made. Startingin the 1930s the enterprising Dill brothers of Baltimore started manufacturing cardboard buildings in the basement... of their parent's home under the trademark of Dilco Toys. Theirproducts were sold as far away as F. A. O. Schwarz in New York City. Somewhat similar tothe glittering mica covered smaller houses manufactured in Germany first and then later Japan, these houses are typical of the local style made by members of fire departments in the city of Baltimore. This lot consists of 6 buildings including 5 houses and a church. They are in remarkablecondition and NOTHING is missing from them that I can tell. A few of the paper windows have beenpushed through and there is an odd piece of tape here and there. A few of the roof tops need to bere glued and the church steeple has a slight bend but nothing serious. You will not be disappointedin the condition of these houses from the Great Depression. The architectural style is typical of homesbuilt during the mid 1930's. They would be lovely in a vintage Christmas or toy train display. Nothinghas been repainted or touched up over the years and they are clean, no water damage, no funny smelland just delightful! Please look closely at all photos and best of luck. If you are a collector of vintage toys, model trains, doll houses or unique items from the 1930's....this lot is for you! The 3 largest housesmeasure about 9x4x6, the 3 smallest including the church measure about 5x3x4. They all have open squares in the bottoms to allow them to be lit from within.
