Absolutely gorgeous Epiphone Spotlight from the mid to upper 1980s. This is part of Gibson's Noveau series and is pretty rare. These were made to compete with the PRS guitars that were becoming popular during that time. They were supposed to be Gibsons that had the components made in Japan. They would then be assembled in USA and sold as a USA made Gibson. There are lots of theories about where they were made after that so read online and decide for yourse...lf. The neck through body/neck of this guitar is of exceptional quality and the book matched maple cap is stunning! .All that quality is hampered by the terrible Steinberger tremolo. At best they're quirky but usually they're unusable as a tremolo (Most people just keep them locked down). They use crappy posts that are usually bent from string tension. I have been told there are aftermarket posts made specifically for this model that correct these issues. I have also been told that certain vintage Kahler tremolos can be made to work with great efficiency. It looks like the posts have either bent back or moved back enough that the tremolo cracked the wood separating the tremolo route from the humbucker route (please see last photo). Do not have tremolo bar. Enough of my rant! The finish has the light scratches and minor wear from being played and handled throughout. A bit more, along with some scuffs around edges. A few nicks here or there. Medium fret wear. Very light string grooving in upper frets. Plenty of meat left on frets. Some scuffing and a few nicks around edges of headstock. Light play/use scratches on face of headstock. Electronics sound very nice and work. It has a push/pull tone pot for coil split. Might be some scratchiness in pots, switch and/or jack from storage. One humbucker mounting/adjustment screw is missing. Guitar weighs (as shown in photos) 9 pounds, 7.8 ounces. Includes case shown in first photo.
