Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a very unique and very rare Amperite floor stand from the 1940's. I believe this is the 1200 model stand but I don't have any info in my older catalogs on this particular model so I can't be sure? Amperite like most of the mic manufacturers of the day would often sell their own style of stands to the public though these companies rarely actually made them. They were generally manufa...ctured by another company entirely and sold with the mics brand name. Amperite was known for selling some of the most expensive and orante stands of them all with the exception of RCA perhaps. This model shown is built like a tank and would be almost impossible to destroy. It has a unique two piece adjustable riser for option height and a solid cast iron base with a chrome cover. As you can see in the pictures provided this microphone stand has typical cosmetic wear. It's has 100% original parts however and works great. The stand has the universal 5/8 X 27 thread so any mic will screw onto it as well as any mic clip. The two riser are actually made of brass with a chromium plating but the chrome is worn down in sever spots exposing the brass material beneath. This is a common problem for the older stands of the 1930's and 40's as the chroming process was not as good as it is today. The stand also has a chrome plate cover that is also made of brass so any spots that look like rust are in fact exposed brass. The cover has a few small dings in it but otherwise has held up pretty nicely. This stand has a a lot of character. Beneath the cover is a solid cast iron base that'sin very nice condition. The bas is a larger 12 inches across and weighs roughly 20 pounds. It will certainly keep that precious older mic upright where it belongs. This stand is gonna be very hard to tip over. I added 6 thick felt pads to the bottom of the base to keep the stand from scratching any surface it may rest on. The 3 original pads were almost completely gone. This would make a great display piece with your older mic anywhere in the home, office or studio. An instant conversation piece. If you demand uber rare...this is your stand.
