Back in the late 1950s and early 1960s, the model train company ATHEARN did something unusual: it manufactured non-train model kits, such as this WELLS FARGO MAIL & STAGE COACH model K-230:49 in their Miniature Masterpiece Western Series. Done in plastic, O gauge 1:48 scale.
RARE. It is even hard to find these kits in many versions of the Athearn catalogs...
This kit dates back to 1962, and has been mostly assembled. There may be pieces and decals missing, but AS IS it is sti...ll a Good representation: the stage coach itself is complete (it needs one wheel glued on). Some of the dark brown plastic has discolored with age. Included are 4 horses, and flat pedestal stands that they may be glued to in order to stand upright (no riders included). There is also a stage coach driver, and a lookout rider pointing a gun at would-be bandits.
