This charming old penguin stands just over 8" tall. His one piece wooden body appears to be hand carved and is 2 3/4" across the front at the widest. From the back of his head to the tip of his "nose" is about 3 1/2". There are a few dents and dings in the wood, as would be expected. His head, wings, tail, legs and feet are metal. The legs and feet appear as wrought iron. H e stands well but has a bit of a wobble when touched, so I would use some ta...cky stuff to insure he doesn't fall over. The wings and head appear to be cut and shaped by hand. It is thick and heavy enough not to bend easily. Each wing is attached to the body with 3 nails. The head is lifting up a bit from the body, as shown, but does not move at all. The tail may have been repaired or re-attached at some point. The metal retains black paint and shows some surface rust and wear. Perfect patina! There are very thin lines of what appears to be metal, almost like tenons, from the head and from the tail, into the body. Rare and incredibly made! He has so much charm and personality.
