Up for sale is a set of two books, “The Descent of Man and Selection in Relation to Sex” by Charles Darwin. Published in 1871 by D. Appleton and Company, New York. First American Edition, First Printing. Black and white illustrations in both volumes. Both volumes have edge and corner wear with marks here and there. The cloth at the top of the spine on volume one is split, all the cloth is still there but separated, could be carefully glued. Tan stain in the bottom margin of volume ...one and the cloth on the back cover is a little faded. Cloth at the top and bottom of both volumes is frayed. Signature at the front of both books, pages a little tan, volume one is 409 pages long, volume two is 436 pages long, a mark here and there inside, both bindings are loose, volume one has a cracked binding.
