SUPERB!!!COUPLE OF REVIEWS:Thanks Ralph Quirino from 2002:Double CD set of 50 exceptional Britpop singles and sides from Immediate Records. The sound quality on this package is superb, besting anything that came previously. The song selection is rich and generous, allowing non-fans the chance to skip buying anthologies by Chris Farlowe or The Small Faces altogether. Some of the best songs here include:
Small Faces - "Tin Soldier" and "Itchycoo Park"
Humble Pie - "Natural Born Bugie"
Amen Corner - "(If Paradise Is) Half As Nice" and "Hello Susie"
The Nice - "Thoughts Of Emerlist Davjack" and "America" (full length version to boot!)
Duncan Browne - "On The Bombsite"
Fleetwood Mac - "Man Of The World"
P.P. Arnold - "The First Cut Is The Deepest"
Chris Farlowe - "Out Of Time" (sweeping and majestice strings on that 'un) and Handbags And Gladrags"
Rod Stewart - "Little Miss Understood"
Nico - "I'm Not Saying"
Twinkle - "Mickey"
and more form the likes of The Fleur De Lys, Billy Nichols, Twice as Much, Murray Head (an early, rare single), Mike d'Abo, Australian Playboys and Golden Apples Of The Sun.
This set includes detailed liner notes with lots of photos and - as mentioned before - the best remastered sound available. Decent price to boot. And, for everyone who believe Radiohead and Blur rule the Britpop roost, go back and experience what Britpop sounded like in the sixties. It'll make you think twice about "Song 2" or Kid A.
Guaranteed. Thanks Richard from 2011:A 50 tracker originally on vinyl which is an overview of Andrew Loog Oldham's Immediate label-which ended up like they all do.Even this CD reissue labels has gone bust leaving what is no doubt a rareity
Immediate's first hit was actually with a track they licensed from the American Bang label-the McCoys' Hang On Sloopy but the label had a roster of U K artists some of which had Stones involvement eg Billy Nicholls, Twice As Much and the odd one by the Small Faces.
The licensing deal with Bang lasted until it passed to Decca so there were a couple of singles by the Strangeloves and it carried on with the Turtles licensed from White Whale and Barbara Lynn licensed from Jamie
Immediate were the first to sign American singers Nico and Goldie (who had previously been as Goldie & the Gingerbreads) the latter making the first version of Going Back later to become famous via the Byrds and Dusty Springfield.
There were a lot of hits into the 70s and the foldout booklet has all the deatilsThanks Stuey Shaw from 2015:I already had the Chris Farlowe and P P Arnold CD's, but was especially interested in some of the other tracks, in particular the Mockingbirds version of "You Stole My Love". In Australia, this song was covered by Mike Furber and the Bowery Boys, and their version is far superior to that by the Mockingbirds. However, I found some absolute gems among the many other songs on the Immediate Pleasure double CD. Among the many standouts, I particularly enjoyed the Goldie single, the Fleur De Lys track, the Tony Rivers song and the Australian Playboys sole single. All songs I had not heard before. Well worth the price of the discs, and the booklet is just brilliant, explaining what happened to Immediate, as well as a bit about each artist. well done Sanctuary Records.ANY INFO?
