Here is a 1st Generation Fenwick HMG Graphite Spinning Rod fron the 1974-1975 ... This Fenwick HMG Graphite GFS64 6'6" Spinning Rod weighs 2 3/4 oz and is rated for use with 1-6 lb Line & 1/8 - 3/8 oz lures. The HMG GFS64 come with the Original Aluminum Storage Tube & Green Nylon Sock!. These early Fenwick HMG Graphite Rods were built on Fenwick's New High Modulus Graphite Blanks that were a Black/Gray in color and the Wraps were done in Green with White Tipping alth...ough many people think these wraps are Black....rest assured they are Green. The early HMG Graphite Rods also received Hand Written Serial Numbers in Gold and this early HMG Graphite GFS64 has Serial Number is HMG # 54, 954... The early Fenwick HMG Graphite Spinning Rods and specifically the GFS64 came equipped with the Aetna Foulproof Guides and a Ceramic Tip-Top while the later 70's and early 80's HMG Graphite Spinning rods sharing the same model number used a Brown HMG Graphite Blank with Brown & Tan wraps and Fuji Ceramic Guides.... The 6 Aetna Foulproof Guides and Ceramic Tip-Top are Excellent as are all of the Dark Green wrappings. The Fenwick HMG Graphite GFS64 offered here is a beautiful lightly used All Original Rod that looks very nicel. The Guides, Wraps, Cork Tennessee Handle and decals are all Excellent. The ferrule fits nicely and the overall condition of the rod is excellent. This Fenwick HMG GFS64 was used for one fishing season some 40+ years ago and then carefully packed away in its original Sock & Tube. The rod is clearly marked Made in USA and is not a late Taiwan or Korean made Fenwick.
There isn't much more to say about this Rare Fenwick HMG GFS64 except that there will be no disapoointlents. The cork shows very minor soiling and the blank shows light handling marks but otherwise its as good as they get...not new but a lightly used original thats 45 years old and super nice. I have seen several of the late 70's & early 80's GFS64's but I haven't seen another of the Fouloroof Guide equipped & hand written Gold serial numbered GFS64 since they were new...incredibly hard to find. This is another from my personal collection. The Rod will be nicely packaged in its original sock and tube and all will be shipped in either a heavy cardboard tube or a heavy box to insure safe delivery to your home.
