This book is a hoot! Aside from it being a likely first edition, some of the recipes and their titles are hilarious. I added photos of some of the pages. There is a relief stamp in the upper right hand corner of the cover. I can't read the whole stamp, but the bottom half reads: Department of the Navy.
Origin of the book...I am one of 6 kids and my mother is one of 9, with Gr...amma having been born in 1907. She had many male relatives in the military (father & uncles and so on). There was an obituary clipping inside, with my Grandmother's maiden name, so I assume it was from her father or uncles. When my Gram died, I received many boxes and this was among the contents. I am now thinning out my attic and basement.
I have no idea what the value is, though I do believe it has some. I find it listed as being published by the Navy, but can't find in on any old book sites.
