This is a very rare first edition of the first biography published about Henry David Thoreau. This book has 357 total pages and measures about 4 3/4 " wide by 6 3/4" tall. The author, , William Ellery Channing, was a prominent Unitarian theologian of the era.
Condition

The text pages from the half-title page on are tight and unmarked. The binding and hinges have been repaired, probably with glue. The boards are scraped on the inside paste downs. The front colored end paper is missing. The front white endpaper is scraped. There are no library markings on this book.
