Very Rare HOHMANN & MAURER Steam Gauge, Portland, ME

Over the next few weeks I will be listing many early (mid/late 1800s) and rare steam gauges from an advancedprivate collection. Some are diaphragm gauges and unless noted otherwise, all respond to air pressure, although I can not attest to their accuracy. Check back often to see great pieces.
Made by HOHMANN & MAURER MFG CO, ROCHESTER, NY for the R. O. CONANT Co. of Portland ME. It is a sweep gauge, ...rather than a clock face, and has a 0-30 psi scale. It has a 3 1/2" face, brass bezel and iron body. Curiously there is only one screw next to the 1/4" shank to hold the mechanism. Probably due to the sweep configuration.
This is the only Hohmann & Maurer gauge I have ever found.
