From the Dust Jacket: "Decoys and their makers of the Canadian Maritime region can how be studied in this book. This region, including Nova Scotis, Pr...ince Edward Island, and New Brunswick, is actually the northern section of the atlantic flyway. Few of the many fine decoy carvers from these areas have been identified before, while the little information which has appeared often has been inaccurate. Maritime-Canadian decoys are available on the market can be found in collections in the United States as well as Canada. Many of them are among the finest decoys made in North America. The book is more than a reference; it celebrates the folk artistry of a people as expressed in their decoys. Many wildfowl species are represented, including the more unusual loon, the seagull, and the harlequin duck. Over 330 high quality black and white and 32 color photographs illustrate styles that prevailed in various areas and identify individual carver's work. Illustrations of unique hunting methods, old photographic portraits of certain carvers, and several maps round out of the supporting material."
