An antique Meiji period Japanese cloisonne vase measuring approximately 12 & 1/4 inches tall and approximately 9 inches across at the widest point. It's a good large size and stunning decoration of a flower garden with chrysanthemums and narcissus. Unsigned, the metal base, foot and top rim have a darkened patina with darker spots and some possible light verdigris on the bottom base. The enamel has a couple of areas of faint tight stress hairline cracks on the sides that m...ust be searched for to see. They are amongst the leaves and flowers, they are not obvious and not very bad in my opinion. I have tried to picture examples enlarged in photos 8 and 9. They were difficult to picture and I had to hunt for them to see them. Please expect possibly a few other similar small tight lines that are not pictured and if so, they would be even less obvious. There are some small surface flakes in the enamel, pictures 9 and 10, (plus similar on edge of metal foot and at edge of top metal rim that are not pictured). Also some surface scratches and scuffs I was unable to show closely due to limited pictures allowed on the listing. There are some minor flakes or depressions in the enamel in the small scallop decoration around the metal of the bottom foot and the metal of the top rim. If you need any additional photos of the issues described, please email and I can send you some. There's nothing that I would consider major damage, in my opinion. From the enamel firing process there is pitting in the enamel and sandy-like pits here and there randomly overall from the making. You can see some of this in the close-up photos, please expect similar throughout. This is pretty common on old cloisonne. No repairs or restorations. This vase has a nice wide rounded form and good larger size. There is a graceful dipped well-like edge on the shoulder of the vase that gives it a more unique shape. Gorgeous florals on a dark blue background. Otherwise normal light wear from age.Illinois residents pay 10.25% sales tax which is added to the purchase price at the end of the auction.
