Original Description:
A most wonderfully carved wooden pipe in the form of a dogs head. Very much in the Black Forest style it features exceptionally well carved detail showing the fine texture of the beasts hair in the crispest of detail. The glass eyes are both present and pristine. The open mouth shows a fine set of teeth, again perfect with not one missing. Even the roof of the animals mouth has been carved into realistic ridges. There is too a carved collar with which to restrain this Hound of the Bask...ervilles!!! This pipe is an exceptional example  and could easily be the centrepiece of any pipe collection. It could be said that this is the best pipe I have had or seen for many years.The amber mouthpiece shows the slightest signs of use; this is joined to the wooden bowl with a metal ring mount. I believe  this pipe has been used at some point but hardly at all. It has survived in the most fabulous condition. Superb glossy patination.Length:- 17 cm.
