Antique Colonial Interior Door w/6 Raised Panels

Elegant, antique, interior doors salvaged from an old home in Central Connecticut. The doors are made of solid white pine and... have a traditional, Victorian style, 5-panel arrangement with 4 vertical panels divided by a small horizontal panel. The panels are raised on both sides. Both doors are unpainted and still retain their original stain and finish.If you think that pine is a weak, soft wood; please keep in mind that the wood milled from modern pine trees, which only grow for a few decades before they are cut down, is not the same quality as the wood that was milled by our forefathers from trees that were hundreds of years old. Although these doors were made in the 50's or 60's, they were built using the wood from mature pine trees, which exhibit the qualities of wood that has endured the test of time. As a result, the pine that these doors were made of is physically harder, less susceptible to warping and twisting, and more insect and rot resistant than today's pine lumber.
Hardware: The doors are not equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of period hardware to outfit them (check out our eBay store).* If you would like any of the hardware holes plugged with solidwood, please email us for a quote.Uneven Width & Height:
The height of both doors and the width of Door#2 were unevenly cut by at some point, most likely to compensate for the home's settling foundation or a warped floor. We could cut either or both to an even height and width, cut them narrower and/or shorter, or even build them up to make them bigger--email us for a quote.Condition:Considering that the doors are 50 - 60 years old, they in great shape. They have the typical scrapes, scratches, and small nail holes that you would expect to find on an old, used door, but no warp, rot, or other serious breaks or cracks. Door#2 does have a few more noticeable nicks and scrapes around its left, middle panel, on the exterior side (see last 2 photos). However, once the doors are sanded for a new coat of paint, or stripped to refinish, most of these blemishes will be removed by sanding. What remains will be covered by paint or stain, and only appear as subtle "character marks." The doors are strong, sturdy, and ready for another lifetime of service.Refinish/Repaint: We could refinish, repaint, or partially or completely strip the doors to prepare any of them for you to repaint or refinish. See the last photos in this auction as an example of our work. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.Swing: Both doors are set up to swing inwardly towardsthe right. However, we can modify either to swing towards the left--email us for a quote.Modification: We could also modify these doors to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, make molding, reverse the swing, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
