Antique OCCUPATIONAL TINTYPE * LAUNDRY MAID Wooden Washtubs Basket & Washboard This listing is for an outstanding occupational tintype that pictures a maid wearing an apron and bonnet doing laundry outdoors. There are 2 wooden washtubs, one holds a washboard, and there is a laundry basket on the ground. This is an exterior image; you can see the house’s clapboard siding and another woman in the window. The tintype has dimensions approximately 2” x 3 ¼” (slightly smaller th...an ⅙ plate) and is in its original paper sleeve with visible dimensions 1 ¾” x 3”. The photo came out of a Civil War era CDV album and probably dates to the 1860’s or very early 1870’s. The condition is Excellent with very light wear. See my other listings.
