Up for auction from my personal collection is a Beautiful Unfished Classic Fenwick PLB90 Spinning Rod 9' in length... 1968-1969 Vintage including it's Original Storage Bag.. again this Rod is UNFISHED!
When these Fenwick Feralite Fiberglass Rods came along in the late 1950's there was nothing quite like them in the way of quality & craftsmanship... they were absolutely outstanding fishing rods! This is an Original 1968-1969 Vintage... Made in the USA Fenwick PLB90 with al...l American made components in its original length with all Original components!This 1968-1969 Vintage Fenwick PLB90 is a beautiful Rod that would be right at home in any collection or would make an excellent rod for fishing.
The Fenwick PLB90 is in Beautiful unfished condition with its high quality Cork Handle with the Lower Cork measuring 13" including the original Fenwick butt cap and the Upper Cork handle measuring 6"...
The Reel Seat is a heavy Chrome plated seat and believed to be Varmac as Fenwick typically used Varmac on their Saltwater rods although it is not marked. Above the upper Cork Handle/Grip is the Classic Fenwick Chestnut & White Diamond Wrap along with the Trademark Fenwick Eagle logo in White & Black with the Eagle's talons gripping a Fenwick Fly rod and the Fenwick name in Gold....all are Super Clean as you would expect. The Original Fenwick Model/Spec Decals are all Super Nice with Model PLB90 9' 16 1/2 oz. 1-3 oz Lures. 12-30 lb Line. Below the stunning Fenwick Eagle Logo is Serial Number " I28770" and the "I" indicates 1968-1969 Production. The Beautiful Brown Translucent Fenwick Feralite Blank is beautiful as you'd expect for an unfished well stored 50 year old Fenwick. The Lower section of this 9' Fenwick PLB90 has one large Spinning Guide and just above that Guide is the Trademarked FERALITE Ferrule decal which reads " IMPORTANT TWIST ON TWIST OFF Apply Parafin to Ferrule as needed for Lubrication". The equal length upper section has 9 more American made Spinning Guides and the Original Carboloy Tip-Top. The Original Chestnut and White Wrappings on all of the Guides and all of the Decorative Wrappings are still beautiful after 50 years. The Feralite Ferrule fits as it should and this Fenwick PLB90's overall appearance is Excellent! The Original Cloth Storage bag is a 2 compartment bag and is clearly marked with the Trademark Fenwick Eagle along with Model No. PLB90. The original storage bag shows some staining and could use some cleaning while one of the seams is slightly tattered...all original and could be cleaned up if you so choose. The Original Fenwick Eagle logo and Model number appears to be either ink-stamped or silk-screened. This Fenwick PLB90 is a 9' rod 2 piece design with the trademark Feralite ferrule and it still retains it's original cloth Storage bag. The Fenwick PLB90 were advertised by Fenwick in the 1968-1969 Fenwick Catalog as " FERALITE SUPREME FAST-TAPER SURF SPINNING & LIVE BAIT RODS" " Our Fenwick Surf, Live Bait and light Salt Water Feralite Rods have proven to be Outstanding in design and action. These Rods are properly equipped with the right number of finest quality hard chrome guides, spaced properly to avoid excessive line wear, and to give these rods perfect balance and action. Thede Rods have proven under the most rugged tests that the Feralite design is perfect in every way. The lightness, action and strength of a one piece rod but the convenience of a two piece rod. This series is available in Light or Medium action spinning Rods in a Wide Selection of lengths or in Conventional guides in "C" models."
The Fenwick PLB90 is a Fast-Taper Medium Action rod designed for 12-30 lb. Test Lines....Ideal ocean live bait, light Surf /Jetty for most Saltwater fishing. I have several of these Fenwick PLB Series rods and was using one of my PLB90's this past September while fishing for Striped Bass and that rod performed beautifully easily handling many schoolie Stripers aling with several keeper length fish. I have used several of the Fenwick PLB series rods over the years including 2 that I built from blanks and they have always delivered whether I was standing in the surf live-lining an eel or throwing an SP Minnow, jigging a bucktail or chunking bunker.... These rods can do it all. This beautiful Unfished FENWICK PLB90 will bw nicely packaged in its original Fenwick Storage Bag and the Rod & bag will be professionally packaged for safe secure delivery to your home.The Original Fenwick storage bag/sock shows the Fenwick Eagle logo and the PLB90 Model number. The bag could use some cleaning and has a section of stitching that's come undone but overall it looks pretty good and most importantly, it's still with the rod. Keep in mind that these pieces are 50 years old and the storage bag has done it's job of protecting this beautiful Fenwick PLB90 Spinning rod. This vintage Fenwick PLB90 is outstanding and I know there will be no disappointments. I insure everything that I sell and everything is shipped with Tracking.
