Thanks for viewing my auction!🛫✈️🛬 Here we something very special, from my personal collection, one of my rarest and coolest battery operated toys, a Yonezawa American Airlines DC7 vintage tin toy airplane which was made in Japan circa 1960s. This exact toy is so very hard to find; extremely detailed, well built, aesthetically pleasing, high quality materials, AND it has ...a ton of features, more than almost any other battery op plane out there. Don’t wait around on this one, it could be gone any second! There is only one other example listed on eBay right now and I cannot recall the last time I saw one available for purchase. 🛫✈️🛬
Condition is vintage used, but far above average and quite excellent actually, it is also fully functional! A little dirty and tarnished, but it will clean up beautifully if you were so inclined to shine it up. I prefer my battery ops sweaty, dirty, and raw, so I just never got around to buffing it out. There are some very small, minor rust speckles here and there, but no large rusted areas or patches, and the battery compartment looks great.
The toy operations are as follows: 2 propellers spin up and the plane starts taxiing forward (and no joke, this toy is incredibly fast, so it requires a long runway or play area to really enjoy operation, I don’t know if they all run this fast or just this one, but it’s a speed demon!). The red light on top always blinks while the toy is powered on and in operation, then the other 2 propellers spin up, so that all 4 are running, as it’s still moving forward and taxiing. It travels for a good distance, spins down to 2 propellers, and then to no propellers as it comes to a stop. The back door then swings open and an American Airlines flight attendant is seen hand up-waving, as the passengers seen in the plane windows shift backwards to give the visual appearance of all the passengers unloading and exiting the airplane. The cycle then repeats itself. UPDATE: the flight attendant/passenger-exiting function just stopped working, it was fully functional only last week and everything else still works perfectly. I believe it is something very minor and easily repairable, I think the ‘tin bar’ that gets pushed back to operate both functions at once got pushed out of place when I was changing the batteries. I’m going to try fixing it one of these days when I have some time and will update the listing if I get it working.
Sold as is; if your here reading this auction, then you know how vintage battery op and wind-up toys can be. We truly love them, but hate how they can be more finicky than anything else out there. Please view all photos, ask any questions, and no returns are accepted.
I will also be listing a few other vintage tin battery op toys very soon; including a couple of SUPER rare Japan robots. Like my exceptional condition, museum like quality, and more rare red-variant of the Rosko astronaut. WITH an above average original box and it is fully functional! 🤖🤖🤖 WOW FACTOR! 🤖🤖🤖
