United States Lighthouse Service Extremely Rare Porcelain Sign Coast Guard.
This Sign is a Guaranteed Authentic piece of lighthouse and Maritime History. There is not another one for sale anywhere, this sign dates between 1910-1939 so little information exist other other than a few photos one being in a museum and the other being at Encased and mounted on a lighthouse in Fort Point, Maine. The United States Lighthouse Service was only in existence for 29 years before merging wi...th the United States Coast Guard. I do know from later Coast Guard examples that they were only put on lighthouses. It was found near Mobile bay in Alabama.
Sign states: UNITED STATES LIGHTHOUSE SERVICE WARNING ALL PERSONS ARE WARNED NOT TO INJURE OR DISTURB ANY PROPERTY OF THE LIGHT HOUSE SERVICE. ALL VIOLATIONS WILL BE PROSECUTED COMMISSIONER OF LIGHTHOUSES
