Vintage PIC Germany Custom Carbon Steel Bowie/Boot Fighting Knife W/Sheath
Item History & Price
This is the second of two similarly customized German knives we're posting tonight, both made in Germany in the 1960's, and this one made by PIC (the other is by Edge Brand). At some time in its past a previous owner customized it to make it easier to slide into one's boot, removing its cross-quillon and replacing its stag handle scales with some of the freakiest psychedelic synthetic material I've ever seen on any knife. It's large bowie blade is 6" long and the entire piece is... 10.25" long. When we obtained it its original sheath was in terrible shape, falling apart, so we've replaced it with a VERY fine cowhide belt sheath made for it in Chicago by Tom Gordon. It's used but is still in very good condition, as you can see, with no problems anywhere. These knives have always been prized by collectors and many were a favorite in the Vietnam conflict among special forces guys, often with elaborate modifications to handles and sheaths. The blades are OUTSTANDING and almost never modified, hand-forged from some of the finest carbon steel ever hafted. Like all carbon steel knives, it must be kept dry, even during use. This minor inconvenience is more than offset by the superb edge maintenance and performance offered by carbon steel, as any experienced user can confirm. RETURN POLICY: We prefer a no-returns policy because you're going to get EXACTLY what is in the description and TWELVE very clear photos. You promise that if there's something that's unclear or you're not sure about in the ad or pictures, you'll ask before you bid. That should work well for both of us.
