There are replacementendpapers, the original main body of the book commences with the illustratedtitle page, there are numerous leading sections with decorative head and tailpieces prior to the commencement of “Genesis”, the New Testament has a separatetitle page with an illustrated printer’s device within the text, throughout thebook there are many small illustrations within the text, which is largely indouble columns. The Bible comes to an abrupt end following the New Testamentwith all the leaves that follow the third page of the section that follows leafYYy5 being missing (I cannot confirm how many leaves are missing as I cannotfind a contents to this book), pp. 960, 273. Please note, only the books of theOld and New Testaments have sequential page numbering. This is a very rare copy of the“Derniere Edition” (Last Edition) of this Bible in French, containing both theOld and New Testaments, and small illustrations within the text. Whilst I havelocated other editions of this book in both the British Library and elsewhereon the Internet in the public domain, this 1609 edition remains elusive, evenwithin Worldcat. According to the title, this Bible was originally translatedby the theologians of the University of Louvain from Latin into French. Thisparticular Bible has been rebound, probably during the 20th century, with theoriginal book commencing with the title page and concluding with what appearsto be some pages missing (see the photograph of the final page in the book). Generally, this book is externally fair, internally poor to fair, with the faults as described following. Morespecifically, externally the replacement bin dings are rubbed and bumped, thereis fading and wear to the spine, and the creases to the spine are split at thehead, internally there is age browning and foxing, there is grubbiness andmarks throughout, and there is also staining throughout. The lower corners ofthe pages are worn with some deficiency, the original book commences at theillustrated title page and concludes with all the leaves that follow the thirdpage of the section that follows leaf YYy5 being missing (see above), there aresome small tears within the body of the book, and there is splitting to thecreases of the spine at the front and rear of the book, otherwise remainingbound. Unpackaged this book weighs 2350g (approx 5lb 3oz), and is 25.75 x 19.5 cm (substantial4to) or approximately 10 x 8 inches in size.
