Original 1918 French stone lithograph issued by the citizens' organization "Souvenez-vous" (Remember), devoted to documenting and perpetuating the memory of German crimes in occupied France during the First World War. The poster shows a German soldier in uniform during the conflict, bloody knife and torch in hand, then and in civilian clothes holding a hat and briefcase. The text reads: "This Hun, who killed, burned, pillaged; this salesman who offers you ...his products, who wants to again operate in our country; He is the same! Never forget! After the war we will help unmask Kraut products." Artist signature F. Gottlob, who also owned the print shop in Paris that produced he poster (stamp on bottom right edge). Dimensions are 21 x 14 inches. Newly linen backed (10 oz cotton canvas + 100 lb cotton paper) and acid-neutralized. Excellent condition. Poster lies perfectly flat; no holes or paper loss; bright colors; no fold lines. Difficult to find in this condition. Like most posters issued by private organizations, this one had a smaller print run (likes 10, 000 or fewer copies) than most government-issued designs. There are two photos, one with and one without flash. Poster will ship rolled in a hard tube. Flat shipping charge of $10 for continental US.
