The condition on this is just amazing to me. I'm not a bank collector but I'd call this at least "very good". It appears to be nickel plated cast iron and the plating is great. No rust spots, just a few places where the original castings weren't perfect.
The bottom has cast lettering which reads "The Piaget Registering Bank / Patented Mar 13, 88 Apl 7, 91 Dec 10, 95."
I can find very little about this company. A little article in Hardware Dealer's Magazine from 1905 shows a similar (but dimes-only) bank being sold by the Piaget Novelty Co. of 265 Broadway, New York. I assume they were not related to the present-day Piaget watch company?
This could be a very rare item - do your own research and bid accordingly. I can't find comparables, so am giving it a low starting bid but it may be worth much more than this - and you may never encounter another.
I can confirm that this is NOT a reproduction - it belonged to my grandfather and I remember it in his home in the late 1950s, well before iron banks were reproduced. (He was born in 1891, for what that might be worth.) Time for it to find a new home.
It's 5-1/4" x 4" x 2-3/4" and heavy - weights about 4# (without cents or dimes!).
