This auction is for an early Lenci model #300 Girl from the early 1930's that needs tender loving care! This darling is 17 inches tall and has all the characteristics of the Lenci dolls from the 1920's and 1930's: zigzag stitching at the back of the neck, a hard-stuffe...d cloth torso, felt arms and legs, applied double felt ears, side-glancing brown eyes, two-tone lips with two lighter dot highlights on the lower lip, a swivel head, movable limbs and the third and fourth fingers of her hands are joined. Her lush silky butter-blonde mohair is thick and full and cut in a rare seldom seen "Buster Brown" hairstyle.She is wearing an organdy dress with a blue felt "keyhole" bodice with a felt string tie closure and double fuchsia-and-cream collar and matching double-banded short-sleeves. The skirt is decorated with an intricately pieced cream, perriwinkle blue and fuchsia felt gridwork and has an attached double-ruffled organdy underslip.
She has her original onesie, blue felt shoes with waffle soles and socks with the trademark scalloped top edges. Condition: This fabulous little Lenci has been very well-loved and has overall shelf dust and "pilling" to the felt on her arms and legs.
Her facial features are all-original and unretouched. However, it appears that a previous owner may have attempted to clean her face and in doing so, has smudged her lips somewhat.
While all of the felt trim on the dress is bright and unfaded, the organdy is extremely fragile and has tears throughout.
The organdy dress, underslip and socks are age-darkened and the blue felt shoes are faded.
Despite her flaws, this Lenci creation is adorable and displays very sweetly. Her distinctive hairstyle and intricate dress design make her a sought-after but seldom seen Lenci.
