Featured in this auction is a magnificent cabinet vase made by Rookwood Pottery. The vase is in excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, light crazing and no repairs. There are a few glaze skips and drips, and a tiny glaze fleabite just on the base rim edge, possibly from the base having been ground flat to level the piece. This vase is 4-1/2" tall, 3-3/4" wide at the body, and 2-1/2" wide at the top rim opening. The base of the pottery ...is stamped with the Rookwood Pottery flame mark, the shape number 2122 and the production year XXIX (1929). Stilt marks are visible on the base. This ovoid-shaped vase features a beautiful, arts-and-crafts motif of rosehips encircling the neck of the vase. This gorgeous glaze is a matte, blue-violet or indigo underglaze with a darker blue overdrip. The glaze application is positively stunning and accentuates the mold detail beautifully! The piece shows some very light mineral staining inside from gentle use but is otherwise very clean both inside and out. Check out all 8 photos! This stunning vase would look amazing in your favorite display cabinet. It would also be perfect for any Rookwood or American art pottery collector. Check out my other pottery listings!
